Ainsworth Paddles

Product Information

SEA (low angle paddle)

This low angled narrow blade with soft dihedral and fine edges glides smoothly through the water. The excellent buoyancy in the blades minimises the energy used for each stroke making it ideal for long-distance sea touring.

OCEAN (high angle paddle)

This high angled paddle is the ultimate power machine, designed specifically to move water fast, in either touring or racing, these large, teardrop-shaped blades with fine edges help conserve your energy while covering the ground. Perfect for those long days out at sea.

Material

ABS

AINSWORTH only use the highest quality of ABS Plastic. This has a high content of butadiene               (Synthetic rubber) and as such is the most expensive form of ABS which can offer the level of durability that AINSWORTH requires. This material is particularly suited to adventure centres, clubs or individuals that demand long life from a lightweight product.

AFT (Advanced Foam Technology)

Blades are made using a unique polyurethane high-pressure structural foam construction. This produces a paddle which is tough, lightweight and floaty. The low density is similar to that of a wooden paddle and so can offer the paddler much the same feel but with durability that exceeds the best plastic blades.

This is a unique process developed only by AINSWORTH PADDLES.

Carbon

CARBON PRE PREG Blades:    Beautiful, super light and really strong.

A brand new range of high quality, performance paddles. The new `Superlight` Prepreg blades offer top-class performance and feel.  With a high gloss finish, the Carbon Prepreg paddles inherit the strength, endurance and a full year’s warranty for which AINSWORTH is renowned.

The new Carbon Prepreg blades achieve their performance through a high tech manufacturing process that pre-impregnates Epoxy resin through Carbon fibres at immense pressures at up to 65% carbon to resin content. Paddles made in this process can offer dramatic weight saving and produce a paddle blade where the edge wear is vastly superior to conventional wet lay-up processes which rarely achieve 40% carbon to resin content.

The increased strength of the structure pushes the boundaries of paddle design and so these new paddles can have up to 10  deg. kick back which not only advances the `catch` but drains quicker and assist rolling.

Glass Pro

GLASS PRE PREG Blades

AINSWORTH has developed the `Snap Cure` manufacturing technique for Glass and Carbon prepreg materials. This dramatically reduces the processing time to make products from these high tech materials and so the Glass prepreg range of paddles with their inherent high-performance characteristics can be offered at cost-effective prices that transform the affordability for High-End paddles.

This construction offers the same strength as carbon prepreg paddles but with a little more weight & flexibility, which is sometimes a paddler preference.

POLY CARB

Ainsworth uses a super tough PolyCarbonate composite injection moulded construction for superb durability and performance to give a strong, all-round paddle. Launched in 2014, the material strength is over double the strength of the nylon 12 used in many other nylon paddles at this price point. Ainsworth’s PolyCarbonate blade is much stiffer than other nylon paddles. The shaft is pressed into the blades with hydraulic pressure to a depth of 10cm, ensuring a watertight joint and a continuous feel from shaft to blade tip. The high strength of the material means that the blade can be made lighter than other paddles that use a Nylon construction.

SHAFT

One-Piece Alloy Straight Shaft

AINSWORTH has been making alloy shafted paddles for over 45 years and slowly progressed to being able to process an aluminium alloy that surpasses all its competitors. This titanium enriched alloy is the same spec as used for aircraft construction, it offers the very best corrosion resistance of any aluminium alloy along with a very high tensile strength.

One-Piece Carbon Straight Shaft

AINSWORTH uses a carbon composite prepreg shaft with a percentage of bi-axial glass that increases the UTS (ultimate tensile strength) of the shaft. Glass has 3-5 times the elongation at break as carbon, and when laminated with the stiffer carbon material the best of both materials combine to make the ideal construction for paddle shafts.

One Piece Glass Straight Shaft

Ainsworth offers a Glass fibre prepreg composite shaft that has more flex than a carbon shaft but still with the warm feel of a composite material. This shaft is often favoured by touring paddlers to lessen the impact of a stiff shaft on longer journeys. When this shaft is used in its shorter format on a whitewater paddle, it is still stiff enough to deliver the power and yet give a degree of flex that some paddlers prefer. This shaft is a padders choice and has a cost-saving over a carbon shaft.

Two-Piece Carbon Straight Shaft

The two-piece shaft is the same construction as the straight carbon shaft and split in the centre using a cam and lever which clamps onto a smaller diameter spigot made from the same shaft material.

The overall adjustment offers a 10cm telescopic extension along with a full range of feather angles both left and right-handed. A truly completely adjustable and simple system.

LENGTH

The most important factors in choosing the length for your paddle are your height and the type of canoeing you'll be doing. We have tried to help you with this by creating a paddle guide, this is a guide only: personal preference is also an important factor.

WARRANTY

Ainsworth takes pride in creating the strongest, lightest and most durable paddles on the market. Ainsworth is very confident in the performance of its paddles and offers a one year warranty.

The warranty applies from the date of purchase and is restricted to the original purchaser. It covers defects in materials and craftsmanship under normal use. Note that the warranty does not cover edge wear.

Damages due to abuse, negligence or normal wear and tear will be repaired or replaced for a very reasonable charge.
